“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk through my garden forever.” ~Alfred Lord Tennyson

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” ~1 Corinthians 13:1-2

“Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.” ~Ursula K. Le Guin

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” ~Robert A. Heinlein

“And now, these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” ~1 Corinthians 13:13

  1. Now I’m thinking about Arte Johnson & Ruth Buzzi sitting on the bench. One day as
Paul and I were sitting on a park bench and he asked if I wanted a Walnetto. I proceeded to whack him with my purse!

Reminded me of what I used to call “my bench”. It was born in Owl Park Bay Ridge Brooklyn NY and already there when I was just born and mom with her friends all went to sit there upon a hill overlooking the bay. Then I went there as teenager with my boyfriend and my friends. Finally the last times when I was there mom and I would sit upon it and remember all the great yesterdays.

I always imagine benches are a good common ground for people to come together and find connection.

  24. Every time I see a bench, it’s like an open invitation to sit down and think, or watch what’s happening. Even if it’s just for a few minutes.
