It’s Knowing That Leads to Healing

Thought for the Week

It’s easy to vilify names, faces and images. On social media, in the news–real, fake or a mix of both. But the only way to know the truth is to know someone. To listen, to learn, and to care for them despite what we thought we knew. It’s time we shut out the sound bites and the video clips. It’s time to discover the real, hurting, angry, misunderstood people in our midst. Only then will there be true healing.

I created the feature film Healing River (and the not-yet-released novel) as a template for forgiveness and reconciliation. It was my belief that it’s message could alter lives. I wanted to show, via the central character’s journey, how forgiving the unforgivable is not just possible. It’s the only thing that can heal our world. Why? Because this planet is in desperate need of emotional, spiritual and cultural healing.

Result? Healing River has been called “honest…real…gritty…truthful…raw…powerful…compelling…a roller coast ride of emotions…one that people can’t afford to miss…a must-see movie…a story of encouragement and hope…and one that speaks profoundly to the human condition.” (Amazon reviews)

It’s not available on Netflix, Hod. It’s available at Amazon Prime (any one of the links in the post above will take you there). It’s also available at Apple+, Roku, Tubi, and a number of other streamers. Or, outside the U.S., you can search for “Healing River movie” and you should be able to find where it’s streaming in your country.

Powerful! I don’t have any streaming service, so I am hoping to get the DVD when I have a bit more money and I will be able to share it with my friends, too.

I couldn’t agree more, Mitch! We have to stop talking/yelling “at” people are try actually getting to know them instead. We may not agree afterwards, but at least we’ll understand each other. And hopefully stop demonizing the other side. I love the trailer for your movie and will try to get if on Amazon Prime, since we’re members. I’ll have my son help me figure out how to stream it! (And PS: I’ve been thinking of writing a post with a similar theme, once I find the time to blog again! So this was very timely for me.)

  6. Love the movie, Mitch, have seen it twice! Such a wonderful message.
