Thought-provoking saying…Hmmm. So, attempts to save our own lives are doomed to a sad kind of failure. Choosing to give of ourselves, even to give our lives, now that will work out a bit better, but if our motive remains self-centered, not so much….A life well-spent, a life well-lived demands no reward. No guarantee. No legacy as evidence….okay, enough thinking out loud…
I agree, Rita, and so, I think, would Mr. James. Building a “legacy,” at least as the term is typically used, is a narrow, self-centered goal, more focused on being remembered than doing something of real value.

The picture that accompanies the quote would seem to indicate the author (speaker) was thinking of environmental issues. As an ex-teacher, I see this as a call to invest time and resources in our children
