At bedtime each night, I step outside to say goodnight to the moon and its Creator. Its Creator is always there, but the moon is sometimes otherwise engaged; on those nights I send it a text. My favorite nights are the ones when God has arranged the moon in a moody, mysterious “there’s more going on here than you know” display. For starters, the moon is more than “just a rock in orbit,” in the same sense that van Gogh’s Starry Night is more than “just pigment on canvas.”
So, if you’re reading this at bedtime, consider these pictures (taken by my faithful phone) my goodnight message to you. And remember:
There’s more going on than we know.

Awesome pics, message, and Scripture, praise God!
Thanks, Ryan. And amen!

I love looking at the moon. 🙂

Profound and lovely.
So glad I have a signal today – love this, Mitch!
The moon has always intrigued me… especially when it comes in a dream…
there are so many secrets hiding in every form that it appears in and it’s nice to wonder about those secrets every time you look at it…
Amen to this, Mitch! So honest and blissful, loved the photo to go along with the outstanding verses.
Just wonderful, Mitch.
Love this! I have always been entranced by the moon! Forever a night owl it seems, no matter how many hours of sleep I get mornings are not my thing!
