Safe in the City (today.com)
Six years ago this month, our sense of safety plummeted. Suddenly, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, finding a safe and cozy place became everyone’s goal. A comfy nook to read or pray. A hideaway to think and hope and plan unmolested by fear. And now, in this era of instability and uncertainty? Well, finding a safe and cozy place still holds a lot of appeal.

Imagining myself in any of these places is inspiring. Thank you.
My pleasure, Ionia.
Cozy with a capital C!!! I’m in the process of creating a She Shed in the backyard. These actually sparked some ideas!
Delighted to hear that, Kiki. Enjoy your She Shed!
These photos have a distinct traveller gypsy feel.
I stayed home and wrote Leora’s Dexter Stories: The Scarcity Years of the Great Depression, which turned out to be readers’ favorite Leora book!
Not surprising, Joy. You struck a chord!
Love it, Mitch.
Beautiful photos, Mitch. Hard to believe the world went through such a life-changing time. For sure, we could use some cozy places that feel safe, again. I love “the first rule of cozies,” and that last quote is startling food for thought!
🧡
Thanks for sharing❤️❤️
My pleasure, Sapna, and good to meet you.
Jesus is my safe place, and He’s blessed me with imagination as a temporary escape from this thing terrorizing us all…the pictures are beautiful, I like the hill-billie hobbit’s cabin, my dream home 🥰
;>)
The most appealing cozy spot to me is the van with the back hatch open revealing a gorgeous fall scene by the Supreme Artist. ✝️ And, also, there’s a cute dog to cuddle with. 😁
Cozy under the stairs, with large white teddy bear for company and protection. That’s for me.
Mine was the middle of the high desert
Cozy, Ain’t that the truth!?!
The quotes!!! Love them all!!

Image 6 looking down the river would be heaven for me Mitch 😊
🧡
Fantastic images, real places people can enjoy. Thanks, Mitch!
My pleasure, Grant!
I’m thinking our desire for a safe and cozy place is hard-wired into us so we’ll be drawn to our Maker. It’s under his wings of comfort and security we find true and perfect rest (Psalm 91:4).
A beautiful thought, and I believe you’re right, Nancy❣
Love the photos, especially the Hobbit-inspired ones. I also like the C.S. Lewis quote from The Silver Chair. Determination to live what you believe. I also love the last quote. Thanks for sharing, Mitch.
I forgot to mention that I love the little cottage in the woods, too.
My pleasure, Diane.
I could spend hours on that cozy deck by the river. My safe place is my sitting room recliner watching the world out the window into my yard. Lovely slideshow, Mitch.
My best friend from high school went to Bangladesh the summer after it declared independence from Pakistan.
People were living in trash bags dropped from low flying airplanes; the planes were too afraid to land for fear of being mobbed!
Larry returned as excited as I’d ever seen him, “Ohh, I can’t wait to go back! The Safest Place is in the center of God’s will.”🤠
Now, that’s a godly attitude!
Beautiful safe and cozy places. I want to create something similar for myself at home…where my family can’t find me if I need a me time. 😂

I need a cozy nook.

Wow. Where did you get all these amazing varieties of homes and shelters? This morning, the house next door, which was sold a while back, had a huge crane parked in front. I have had a few errands to run and returned before noon to see one wall left standing! The rest is rubble. The crane driver has been helpful and wants to make sure next door we are safe and that our property and driveway are clean when he is finished. My our Lord be similarly generous when our time comes! I wrote about a memory of a makeshift treehouse my closest brother and shared happy times together many years ago in a blog titled Beach Boys I posted about a month ago. Here is part of it. Cheers Mitch.
“Watching my precious grandchildren
Two young brothers sliding down the snowbank
Dashing back to their ice tower
Saving the city from winged fire breathing dragons
Enraptured
I’m transported back:
The cold sun now
Swerves and revolves in memory
Shining now over a gentle summer Saturday afternoon
My brother and me
Hiding cross-legged in a wooden makeshift hut
In the crook of our umbrella tree
Overlooking the sea
Listening to the Beach Boys”
Beautiful memories, Xavier.
