- First, tell yourself, “I’m having deep thoughts here. True, there are things I need to do, but this is more important(ish). What I’m pondering right now could actually make the world a better(ish) place!” Here are some ponderables to help you get started:
- Short-shrift means to ignore or curtly dismiss someone. That’s rude. I should start giving people tall-shrift. But how do I do that?
- To eat humble pie means to apologize for something you were wrong about. But there are things I get right. So, how do I eat proud pie?
- If I write my memoirs, where should I begin? Here’s a great title for Chapter One: The Happy Little Zygote.
- What if there’s no such thing as conspiracy theories. What if that’s just a conspiracy theory! No, wait…
- I just got back from the supermarket with eighteen bags of groceries. How do I carry them all into the house at once? Do other people suffer from EIOTS (Everything In One Trip Syndrome)?
- Things are getting better. People used to say, “I don’t give a sh-t.” But nowadays I hear, “I don’t give two sh-ts.” Does that mean people are finally giving at least one sh-t?
- Linked-In just informed me that my profile was being read by the U.S. Air Force. I knew I should have done a better job hiding my spacecraft. I should send a message to the Mother Ship: Ħ≈ᲴᲶᲱ჻Ჭᵹᵲᶞ₾₹ⴟ. There.
And now I wait.

Pingback: Eight Ways to Avoid Actually Working – Côté lumière, light side
I like to ponder a quote from a man I used to work with: “The moon maybe smaller than the earth, but it’s further away.”
That is so deep, Andrew.
Good one! Delightful!
Thank you, Eileen!
“The Happy Little Zygote” is hilarious! And number 3, you can eat your proud pie without remorse. 🙂
Aw, thanks, Nancy.
You’ve set me to laughing 7 times +1. I heard on a podcast that humans are drawn to odd numbers, hence the prominence of 3 and 7 in sacred lit. When no one gives THREE sh-ts, we’ll have reached truly blessed indifference! 🙂
;>)
Like I needed eight more ways to procrastinate.
;>)
My question is–How do you PAY for 18 bags of groceries?
;>)
I just experienced number 6 today, it took 2 trips.
That’s so cute! Love it.
EIOT. Guilty as charged! 🤣🤣🤣
;>)
I suffer from eiots.
Guess I am actually not working 😭
;>)
Yes, all in one trip! Well, I think that – but rarely do it. Now I pay Amazon to make that trip only as far as my porch.
I also have an issue with not doubling back when running errands… gotta be a circle.
;>)
Got home tonight and Amazon left multiple 22 & 44 lbs boxes so that my doorway was blocked. I hate when they do that!!
!!!
Haha!
