I’ve been pretty public about my love of public art. At its best, public art (large or small, authorized or un) is brilliantly or at least cleverly executed, and fits knowingly into its surroundings, often dramatically altering them. Here’s a gallery of some of my favorites!

Those are all so beautiful and interesting! My favorite is the alligator 😄 Does the shoes one mean something specific?
Yes, it does. Budapest Shoes On The Danube Promenade – All Things Budapest
Oh wow. Thank you for sharing.
My privilege, Maribelle.
They are all brilliant, but I particularly love “The shoes on the Danube Promenade”. So poignant 😔
I agree, Sara.
They’re all amazing, I particularly love the colorful staircase, I have a plain brown one to get to and from my apartment and I would love having such a staircase to walk down,
Wow amazing! I had to look through them twice. Those 3D paintings are something else!
Wow! Some masterpieces here.
Thank you for sharing these, Mitch.
My pleasure, John.

My pleasure, Martha!
These images are really spectacular!
WOW! Stunning!
Great examples of public art — these look to really liven the spaces!
Amazing. I always love seeing this kind of art.
That is indeed amazing public/street art
WOW!! Amazing pictures, Mitch.
This art must be a good vibe for the people and the whole city to enjoy. Gives the city a uniqueness which I would imagine brings pride to the residents.
Absolutely, Carl! I know my city, Cincinnati, takes huge pleasure and pride in its public art pieces.
There are some mighty talented artists out there that are making something not so memorable, memorable. Thank you for sharing these, Mitch. 🙂
My pleasure, Nancy.
What a beautiful staircase!
All so startlingly beautiful. Even the shoes in what they make us either remember or learn. Those shoes drew my compassion and grief before I googled their meaning. It hurts me inside to have read the details, and whoever created the memorial captured the sorrow and agony, the unknown cruelty that must have occurred there once upon a time. But perhaps that phrase once upon a time is most inappropriate for the tale they tell is definitely not a fairy tale at all. There is no happily ever after resting with those shoes.
I felt the same way.
Wow, that was awesome collection of public art.
These are awesome. I really love the Bear and I definitely wouldn’t feel safe on the first set of stairs.
Some amazing art, my two favorites are the owl and the stairs.
Wow these are great!Hard to pick a favourite but I love the blue bear. Maggie
The umbrella street is absolutely magical! Makes me feel that childlike wonder again
Love the one of the giant crawling out from under that bridge. Super effective and creative!
