A Message From My Inner Child

“We always feel younger than we are. I carry inside myself my earlier faces, as a tree contains its rings. The sum of them is me. The mirror sees only my latest face, while I know all my previous ones.” ~Tomas Transtromer

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” ~e.e. cummings

  1. My dear old daddy used to ask, “What’s this young kid doing looking out of this old face?”

  2. Fortunately, I get plenty of cool rocks from my grandchildren. Love the quotes, Mitch. 🙂

Adulthood is garbage. I would like a full refund! 🤣😂😆

  4. Anonymous says:

My mom was a rock collector. I just pick up interesting rocks. Two different hobbies but both generate very little interest from others!

  5. #hood says:

i been pray & she is busy?

  6. When I was out West with my sister, I found some cool rocks on some of our hikes. When I got back and was unpacking, I wondered what the heck I was going to do with them. Now I know, I’ll send them to you. 😀 What’s you address? 😉

  7. Me… I am finally too old to care but I am still too young to give up.

  8. ruthsoaper says:

If you/when you have grandkids adulthood gets way better. There will likely be cool rocks in your future. 🙂

    Great, well done for posting

  11. I have a box of rocks that I have picked up over the years from various places I’ve traveled to throughout life. And recently I gave a nephew a magnifying glass so that he could examine his rocks. Never lose your inner child.

  12. Darryl B says:

It’s even worse in our current era where you can watch videos of yourself 40 lbs lighter, great hair, no wrinkles and strength and cardio like 5x today. And I remember exactly what I was feeling and thinking in each of those bittersweet movies. 🫤

  13. Ab says:

    The Transtormer quote is beautiful.

  14. Because of health issues, I do feel older than I am, but I still got to “play paper dolls” with our 8-year-old granddaughter over the weekend! (She lives four hours away, so it was a special treat.)

  15. I love all of these! (Actually my husband shows me cool rocks.) I especially love the e.e. cummings quote.

  16. I love this Mitch and think about it all the time. The children we were are still within!

  17. I’m primed and ready for my second childhood, now that I’ve reached a “certain age.”

I am in my 20s and I miss my childhood. I want to go back in time.😄

  21. Bronlima says:

Born in the 50s,and going strong! what a great time to live. The things we could do! Feel sorry for kids today. How will the world be when they get to my age!

  22. Quite poignant and will look at my old face in a different way now! Yes, thankfully grandchildren bring me stones and shells. Their mother makes sure I keep them!

  23. Reminds me of my youngest son who’s 6. I took him hiking last year on a trail that ran beside a little creek and for him the highlight of the entire experience was collecting the river rocks from the creek bed.

  27. The meme made me laugh, Mitch. So much truth in that.
And I really liked the Transtromer quote, and that way of describing our internal life story. Let’s have the courage to keep growing up and discovering more of it.

  28. Info-Man says:

Definitely, why do we even grow up , it’s boring and definitely dumb .
