I have a box of rocks that I have picked up over the years from various places I’ve traveled to throughout life. And recently I gave a nephew a magnifying glass so that he could examine his rocks. Never lose your inner child.

It’s even worse in our current era where you can watch videos of yourself 40 lbs lighter, great hair, no wrinkles and strength and cardio like 5x today. And I remember exactly what I was feeling and thinking in each of those bittersweet movies. 🫤

Because of health issues, I do feel older than I am, but I still got to “play paper dolls” with our 8-year-old granddaughter over the weekend! (She lives four hours away, so it was a special treat.)

Quite poignant and will look at my old face in a different way now! Yes, thankfully grandchildren bring me stones and shells. Their mother makes sure I keep them!

Reminds me of my youngest son who’s 6. I took him hiking last year on a trail that ran beside a little creek and for him the highlight of the entire experience was collecting the river rocks from the creek bed.
