It’s No Secret That I Love Art
But what I particularly love about these 50 wildly inventive sculptures is their use of unexpected media. Some artists, it must be admitted, are a little crazy, or at least willing to break “the rules” (see quotes by Lewis Carroll and others below). These sculptures, many made out of non-“art” materials, run the gamut from the sublimely subtle to the slightly absurd. Enjoy!

I have been to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and seen the giant trolls and the woman’s head whose hair is leaves. While in Central Europe, I saw several unusual sculptures, which I will post.

IMAGINATION is rampant in them studios!
There is no material organic or man made that cannot be used for art. What a collection. One of our camera club members made sculptures with chicken wire, which seems a painful medium to work with, but was very effective.
I suspect the appeal of working with a difficult medium, Janet, is that it forces you to abandon your normal methodology and try new things.

Cool. Always appreciated sculpture. A favorite sculptor is Kumi Yamashita. I encountered one of her works in the Namba Parks Tower in Osaka about twenty years back. Almost a spiritual experience to suddenly recognize what I was seeing.
