What’s up, WordPress?
Never a dull moment with the big WP. So, as of today, I’m randomly unable to respond to some people’s comments on my posts; but no problem, I can always like and reply to them in the “My Home” Comments section (pull-down column on the left), right? Except that in the Comments section I find, according to WordPress, I haven’t responded to anyone in recent weeks — possibly ever! Also, I suddenly find myself having to re-subscribe to people I’ve been randomly unsubscribed from, even people I regularly visit!
A Quick Personal Poll
- Do I seem to be ignoring your Comments?
- Do I seem to have un-subscribed myself from you?
- Have you been unintentionally un-subscribed from me?

Appears normal at my end…
Not being able to reply to comments, yes I’ve seen that one too lately.
No, I don’t know, and No!
I’ve been getting your comments.
Not being able to comment has been an issue for me….On numerous blog sites.
No problems here. I don’t know if you ever subscribed to mine, but I’d be delighted if you would!
I have been getting your comments, and still receive notifications from you, so I think we are good!
I haven’t been having any problems lately, but I know WP in general always has interesting issues. There are times I think of switching blogging platforms, but then I think, I can’t miss one of Mitch’s posts …
Awww, thanks, Andrew. ;>)
I’ve been getting your comments.
Indeed I have just recently come back on board with you. ” I looked up in the sky, and what did I see? I saw a great big garbage truck comin’ after me. They was a pickin’ up cans, side by side, swing down sweet garbage truck and let your buddy ride” Sign of the times Mitch.
Indeed, Norm.
No to all three of your poll questions. Occasionally, I’m also unsubscribed to a blogger or they’re unsubscribed to me.
That’s been happening to me too. 😵💫
So frustrating, BoB.
Thanks, Nancy.
no to all three, and they recently changed me from one style of editing to another and I can’t get the other one back
WordPress is very passive-aggressive, it seems, quietly, cheerfully forcing changes on us.
For better or worse, Mitch, we’re still connected!
;>)
I’m still here, Mitch! God bless!
Thanks. and you too, dear friend!
I got your notification….but I have found that I can’t “like” random comments on other people’s posts, nor even comments on my own posts.
Ditto.
Arrgghh.
How frustrating, Sandy.
WP seems to do that on a rotation. About a week ago I couldn’t comment on posts. But I was still subscribed to them and them to me. Then magically the next day it was back to normal. About 4 months ago a bunch of my subscriptions disappeared so I had to go to their blogs and re-subscribe… My husband is a programmer/analyst and says it is probably due to them making changes to the programs that run in the background and not testing them completely – they have unintended glitches that require patches. Thus they appear broken and then miracles of miracles WP works again!
I appreciated the insight, Muri. If only they were all temporary problems. I have several major issues that started early in the year and are still going on.
That’s too bad. Have you contacted the “happiness engineers”?
Yes. They’ve happily informed me that there are “no problems.”
That’s what they always say – then they fix the problem without ever admitting there is one….
WP dislikes popular blogs. They take up too much space.
That would explain a few things.
Insight much appreciated, Cindy.
I’ve always seen answers to my comments, Mitch. (Thank you.🙂)
Glad to hear that, Annie.
*Knocks wood* I’m not having any issues.
Shhhh!
WoRꓘs finƎ f0r mǝ.
Gub tu no.
I’m having issues with some of my post which have gone missing. Also, like you, followers being unsubscribed. I believe they are using AI to run the site, and it’s retaliating against me. I couldn’t be politically correct if my life depended on it.
;>) AI doesn’t real “get” things. I saw an AI-written list of the “Greatest Albums” of all time. It was a list of bands, not albums. AI didn’t “know” the difference.
You’re not alone! I’ve also had some strange things going on with my comments and subscriptions lately. It’s frustrating because I feel like I’m missing out on connecting with my blogging friends. Great idea to check in with everyone like this—hopefully, we can all stay connected despite the glitches!
Amen, John!
Thanks for mentioning this – I have the same problems 😠
Sorry to hear that, Luisa!
It’s so frustrating 😒
No to all three.
I have, however, had these problems with other WP blogs.
Thanks for letting me know, Pauline.
WP is consistently problematic, more so at some times than at others. Sigh.
I second that sigh, Neil!
As far as I know everything has been OK at my end. I can tell you if anything went amiss with WP it would be a total disaster for me.
Thanks, Rasma.
Coming through in Lexington!🤠
No problems on my end.
Good to know, Venus.
Your page shows I am subscribed and I am seeing everything as usual. They are just messing with you.
Thanks, DK.
Had to resubscribe to you a while back along with several others along the way who seem to drop off 😟
Thanks for doing so, Krista!
You seem OK from my perch here at EthicalDative. Kind regards, and yours in blogging! — Jim
Thanks, Jim!
1. I did NOT receive notification through WordPress that you had responded to my comment on your 10/29 post. 2. You HAVE been dropped from my subscriber list! 3. I’m still receiving notification of your posts. / Such FRUSTRATION for you!!! I pray WP can fix the glitch wreaking havoc with your website!
Thanks for letting me know, Nancy! As far as I know, your still listed as one of my subscribers. And, yes, I Liked and Replied to your Comment on my 10/29 post.
Arrgghh! Ironically, almost no one has Liked my Replies to their Comments under THIS post, Nancy, which I suspect means WordPress hasn’t notified them!
I still get notifications of your new posts in my email every day. Not sure if WordPress counts me as one of your subscribers or you as one of mine. Maybe there are glitches happening to others; what a frustration to be in the middle of. Sorry for that.
I’ve found that when I comment, I’m identified as ‘anonymous,’ so maybe WP doesn’t have me in as one of your subscribers. So, I’ll sign off — Paula Geister
Hi Paula. Hmm, if so, it’s because WordPress did the unfollowing. Please send me a link to your blog site, and I’ll check.
I just thought people are too busy to comment these days.
I think my answer to your quesions is no, though I’m not sure. You have been appearing in my inbox more so lately, which is something and might mean something. My recent problems with WordPress include my clicks on “Like” not working and my losing links to other sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, and Pinterest, from my drafting page (once work is posted). Sigh. Thanks for sharing your frustrations, which come across collegially. I hope you are really well.
Thank you, Christopher, and likewise. WordPress is a veritable cornucopia of quirks and glitches.
After not receiving email notifications for a very long time, I started to get them again from you the other day, Mitch. I always thought it was my end (and no doubt it still is) as this has happened to many bloggers I have subscribed to and I haven’t had the patience to engage WordPress to resolve it. Still, it’s nice to get the updates again 😊
Glad to hear you’re getting notifications again, Sean, but frustrated that you–and a whole LOT other people–have had this happen to you!
I follow a blog that I can only comment on if I do it in the email notification I get from them. I found one blog that I was unsubscribed from and I didn’t do that. Then I wasn’t getting email notifications and checked my WP settings only to discover that my setting had changed to no notifications. I changed it back to where I had it and I am receiving notifications again. I also can’t get my pictures to center in my blogs. Other than that, things are great! 🙂
I feel your pain, Patty.
I have found that I can only comment on certain blogs if I log in (again and again). And my stats are WAY down for my regular readers, which may or may not mean a glitch, but my husband, who subscribes to my blog, says he hasn’t gotten an email notification for my new posts in months. So who knows? Honestly I think Word Press is trying to rid itself of the bloggers who only use it for writing, as opposed to selling a product. They are just making things more and more difficult until we give up and go away……
I fear you may be right, Ann.
Let me recommend Substack.
Do you find newsletters a more effective than blogging, Jenn?
All has been good here at the intersection of Cartwright Drive and Teemley Road. No lack of communication or WP hiccups causing conversational fender benders. 🤪
;>) Glad to hear it, Joseph.
So far the answer is no to all three questions.
Sometimes I can’t reply to a comment on my blog. The usually happens late at night. But, the following day I’m able to. It seems like a Word Press issue of having that function frozen periodically.
How frustrating! Your posts show up for me, but I’m not sure about likes or comments.
I sure hope you remember I still follow you from my cell carrier. I must still go into town for internet/wifi and must remember to try or comment when there. I noticed I can no longer “like” your posts unless I try to comment – Since WP discontinued my post some time back (I’ve been nactive, I admit) thats a whole long process. You’re still my fave, Power of Story!
Aw, thank you, Roo! I have no idea why WordPress won’t let you Like my posts without commenting, but I see that a LOT at other people’s blog sites as well, along with Like buttons that simply never load.
And I don’t know why certain bloggers get kicked into my spam file (like your posts)…
I’ve seen a lot of that lately, Gary.
Sorry to hear you are having these frustrations.
I didn’t mean to be anonymous, I just replied from your email and didn’t sign in first! Oh, well, WordPress still sees better that Blogspot.
It’s a programmers’ and algorithms’ world, Bob. We just live–and grumble–in it. ;>)
I had the same problem a year or so ago (maybe longer), but it seemed to be only when using the Firefox web browser. Could your problem be browser-based too?
Hm, interesting thought, Michael. I’ll try that.
Lulu: “We can’t answer yes to any of those questions, but we do have a different blog friend whose blog we can’t comment on right now because it keeps making us check the box over and over again to confirm we’re human.”
Charlee: “But … We’re cats and dogs. We’re not human.”
Lulu: “Maybe YOU aren’t.”
yeah, one day it works, the next day it doesn’t with no fathomable reason why. i get the same. however, i do get your posts and as you’ve responded to one of mine, i suspect we’re still buddies.
