First it’s a worldwide pandemic. Now it’s Giant Murder Hornets. Zombies can’t be far behind. Actually, according to the World Health Organization, the five deadliest creatures (to humans) aren’t giant murder hornets, lions and tigers and bears, or even zombies. They are:
#5 Dogs – 61,000 deaths per year
#4 Snakes – 94,000 deaths per year
#3 Snails – 200,000 deaths per year
#2 Mosquitoes – 755,000 deaths per year
and finally…
#1 Humans – 1.6 million deaths per year

Thanks Mitch, I am amazed. Not only is there the deadly cone snail which can kill a human in 90 seconds with its venom but there is Schistosomiasis, which is a parasitic flatworm that is in even innocent snails. I may never eat escargot again!

Interesting post. Apparently the WHO doesn’t recognize Satan as a creature. I understand that would be a politically incorrect inclusion, but I think Jesus might put him to the top of the list.

Somebody told me that murder hornets kill only about 50 people per year in Japan. I hope they become just a crazy fad like killer bees were in the late 1970s. Maybe we should just sick those poison snails on them.

Dogs kill that many people a year? That stuns me! Here in St. Louis, I’ve only heard of one death from a dog attack. Lots of dog bites, for sure, but not the deaths. Maybe in countries where there are packs of strays that roam?

Well, they certainly can be, at any rate. But they (humans) can also be wonderful creatures. The unsaid point here it that there’s a moral-ethical side to us that is quite unique.
