It’s Time to Wage Peace!

It’s Time to Wage Peace!

Right now, my country and many others are in desperate need of peacemakers, people who can bridge the gaps that others cannot bridge. Peacemaking is the opposite of weakness, it is strength in its purest form. Yes, peacemakers use words, but they also take risks. Because standing in the gap between two angry factions means taking fire from both sides. Still, if not now, when? And if not us, who? It’s time to wage peace!

“The love of conflict is most evident when opposing forces join sides to defeat the peacemaker.” ~Criss Jami

“Be a peacemaker by creating peace whenever you can. If you find yourself engaged in an argument that only stirs anger in the heart, quickly make peace and carry on.” ~Suzy Kassem

“Sometimes the simplest solution out of conflict is becoming someone’s friend, instead of saying goodbye forever.” ~Shannon L. Alder

“There is an unconscious influence about the true peacemaker that leads every man he meets to love his fellow men.” ~F.W. Boreham

“It’s useless to disarm the hands, if the heart remains armed.”      ~Bangambiki Habyarimana

“Kindness is universal. Sometimes being kind allows others to see the goodness in humanity through you. Always be kinder than necessary.” ~Germany Kent

  1. This is a necessary reminder.

    Yes. If not now, when?

  2. I agree America needs peace 🙏😃

  3. We truly need it, because things are not looking good at all.

  4. We are past due to wage peace.

  5. As the world continues to wage wars of all kinds, we have an obligation to wage peace. It’s so simple, but we forget sometimes that God is the creator of peace. With Him as our leader, we can accomplish this.

  6. Amen 🙏🙏🙏

  7. Wynne Leon says:

    Beautiful, Mitch! Amen!

  8. Germany Kent’s fabulous quote speaks of something we can each strive to do. 🙂

  9. Nancy Ruegg says:

I wonder what percentage of Americans (who want to live in peace) are law-abiding, kind, and responsible. Surely they far outnumber the loud, uncouth, sometimes-violent law-breakers. Another issue involves those who incite others to break the law. Until perpetrators and inciters are held accountable, peace is going to be impossible to achieve in the handful of cities experiencing riot-level unrest.

  10. Mags Win says:

    Amen, Mitch.

German pastor Martin Niemoller “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out – because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak for me.”

A deservedly famous quote, Jean, one I can’t read too many times.

    • Re-Farmer says:

I have never understood that quote. It was the socialists that came for the Jews.

    • Bludgeon says:

Totaly wrong, Re-Farmer: The National-Socialists came for the jews in germany between 1933 and 45. And “National” makes the difference! The National-Socialists are not on the left wing. The name is only a fake to camouflage fascists. On Power they don’t ruin capitalism. They gave him a war to make big profit. And the profitmakers from that period are still rich till now. The country was down 1945 but the profits were waiting for “Wirtschaftswunder” on swuisse banks – to built modern factories…

I think it’s important to point out the brave souls in Minneapolis. Under constant provocation, all but a small minority have been documenting the excessive use of force against their community while peacefully demonstrating and helping neighbors who are too afraid to venture out for groceries.

Right on the money, as usual, Mitch. If only we have the courage to walk the hard path of peace. Blessings to you today.

  15. clcouch123 says:

Gee, I hope that Boreham’s right. I think Boreham is right. I’d like to think that peace and peaceful interest are deep-impulsive in us. So that once aggression has relented, this better part of us might emerge. Or, who knows, we could even start this way. Even to take the energy of aggression and use it constructively. Thanks, Mitch–this theme is too important.

  16. For sure. The entire Globe needs peace. Mental strength is needed more now than before.

  17. You know.. having been so grieved by the oppression going on against Mexicans, and the homeless, and being called to write about and advocate… I never thought I’d agree with this kind of message… No justice. No peace. And I still believe this… in real peace ( not passivity) but I also know that the Lord has very much been speaking to me about being a peacemaker.

    So this post. Spot on.

    Yeah.

  18. Wonderful choice of photos Mitch. I have used that Pogo quote a few times in my columns too. Truth. I had a vision of the wild protestors dancing in a conga line with ICE officers in a circle. No mayors with F bombs were present. Peace like a river as we dance to the music of the burning sea of glass. David and Asaph in the middle of things with harps and Jesus spinning around with His tassels spinning out a blazing circle of color

  19. I totally agree with you! It is time!

  20. Phil Strawn says:

This globe of globular floating in space is on the brink of disaster, so yes, we need some peace, but only God can give us this. Too much evil is taking the place of understanding. Can’t you just see John and Yoko sitting on that bed playing that song? It was only a song, but the tune might catch on eventually.

  21. So good to know wisdom remains in the hearts of so many in times of tribulation. The noise and confusion of competing interests will be quelled like a storm on a lake. Nothing more than a change of wind direction? Call it what we will, unseen forces will vanquish selfish faithlessness. Inevitably. Glorious peace. Let it be.

  22. L.G. says:

    So true, much needed

  23. rkcdlitt says:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God

  24. emosobriety says:

Yes, we all need to step up. If not now, when?

  25. wiseforward says:

Love this and and so relevant in 20th & 21st centuries “It’s useless to disarm the hands, if the heart remains armed.”

  26. Well said, Mitch!!

  27. Ab says:

Let’s indeed hope for more peace and peacemakers during these turbulent times, Mitch. So well said!

  28. I recently read an article by someone who had visited many persecuted Christians in the world in their prisons. Curiously, most did not ask for legal help or money to get released! They asked for prayers for their guards and persecutors, because they said THAT is the best way to end the persecution.❤️🙏

  29. successbmine says:

Great post, Mitch. My pastor’s wife often speaks of the difference between a peacemaker and a peacekeeper. Peacekeepers do not bring real or lasting peace. I pray I might always be a peacemaker.

  30. The world is a scary place at the moment with lunatics who rule the world.

  31. Carla says:

Everything is so scary right now, I certainly pray that we will have peace and that I will be one that helps.

  32. Amen, Mitch! A very timely declaration, “It’s time to wage peace!”

  33. Jeff says:

My brother, when Christ started His miraculous work in me last February, I began to sense that this was exactly where He is leading me. He is still pruning and honing and working, so I’m still not quite sure what it’s going to look like, but it is His timing and His work, so I’m just resting in it and enjoying the process. But I am His to use as He deems necessary, even unto death. “Blessed are the peacemakers!”

This verse keeps popping up for me:
“And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.”
    (Isaiah 58:12 ESV)
