A Filmmaker’s Journal
Healing River, a feature film I wrote and directed (originally titled Over-the-Rhine) has just premiered on Amazon Prime–and right on time for your weekend Movie Night! (Even if you’re not a Prime member you can watch it by clicking on the link below.) Winner of over twenty film festival awards, nominations and selections, Healing River is a powerful inspirational story about “forgiving the unforgivable.” You can watch the trailer now, and then watch (or order a copy of) the movie by clicking here.
Two Ways You Can Help Promote Healing River:
-
Watch it, and then take a moment to review it on Amazon (they promote and recommend films that have lots of reviews).
-
Rate it on IMDb. The day Healing River premiered, we were attacked by internet trolls who hadn’t even seen the movie, and are still working to counter the fake-ratings they gave it! (Note: IMDb discounts your vote unless you’ve rated at least a few other films as well.)

Mitch, I just watched the movie trailer and it took my breath away. It’s powerful and scary. I’m really kind of blown away.
I watched the trailer on Amazon, before you even had this post up. I just watched it again, here. Whew. Very powerful.
Thanks Recovering from major shoulder reconstruction yesterday. So amazon is my friend. Will watch ! Jim

Great, Jim. Heal swiftly, my friend!
Wow! Trailer looks great. Will watch the movie this weekend! 🙂
Awesome, Mel!
Oh, my, oh, my! This is such exciting news!!!! It must have been for this that I signed up for Amazon Prime a couple of years ago! Can’t wait to see it! You must be so excited!!!
Thank you, Martha!
Turning it on now! TTYL
Perfect, Annie!!
Mitch I’m so excited! I’ve waited a long time since missing its limited showing in Cincinnati. Plan to watch it tonight! Again, congratulations! It’s been a long journey for you.
Aw, thank you, dear Cheryl.
I’m so glad it’s finally on Amazon Mitch! I know one thing I’ll be watching this weekend…. I’ve wanted to see it ever since you first started talking about it here. Blessings to you!
Thank you for you continued interest and support, Terri!
I’m so so so excited! I absolutely cannot wait! Thank you for letting us know! Woo-hoo!!! 🙌🏻✝️🙏🏻❣️😃
OH, and CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉🙌🏻💯💐‼️
Thank you, Dori!
A physical DVD would work better for me than a download from Amazon. Will there be a physical DVD later?
Yes, Amazon is selling the DVD, as well.
I just now looked again on Amazon. They list digital rental and digital download (HD or SD), but not DVD. Hope it’s just a matter of wheels turning slower for old-fashioned material objects. May be good to double-check.
Ah, I guess you’re right. I thought the order button was for a DVD, but apparently it is for a digital download. DVDs will be Phase Two of the release, I believe.
Two thumbs up for the trailer. I just shared it on my FB page. So happy for you Mitch!
Awesome. Thanks, Mark!
Congratulations. I look forward to seeing your film. God bless.
Thank you, and you too, Robert.
Just watching the trailer made me cry!
Congratulations 💯
Thank you!
Sending good thoughts your way for a successful launch!!
Thanks, Liz!
You’re welcome, Mitch!
Will render support for your work. Now working my way to the trailer. Thanks for the link.
Thank you.
We will give it a watch in the next few days!
Great!
I will watch it this weekend! 💚 I’m so excited!
Thanks, K.L.!
Getting popcorn and family now … Just rented it … can’t wait!
Awesome, Heidi!
Mitch … so many thoughts … so many emotions. I have no words … just … THANK YOU!
My privilege. Truly.
Just got done watching the movie. It’s a beautiful summation of all the themes you’ve shared here on your blog, Mitch. I’m very glad you found an opportunity to express your heart in such a creative and moving way.
I won’t go into a full-blown review, and certainly won’t spoil anything, but here’s just a couple notes of what stood out most to me:
Rupert Spraul blew me away with his performance on multiple occasions, I was shocked to see how short his film history was on iMDB after seeing that performance.
I was incredibly moved by the song Impossible Love. I listened to it when you shared it in a previous blog post, but felt it so much more with how you wove it into the story. It was, simply, beautiful.
…
Also, Sgt. Early might be the greatest thing I’ve witnessed all year 😀
Abe, I’m delighted at your response! Rupert is one of those most gifted young actors I’ve ever worked with Healing River was his first film, but he’s very active in theatre.. And Mike Hall (Sgt. Early) is quite the comedic genius. Both were a joy to direct. Would you be willing to do an Amazon review? It can have a real impact on the film’s future.
Actually I did leave one, at the same time that I left my comment here. But instead of posting it right away I got the following message from Amazon
“We are processing your review. This may take several days, so we appreciate your patience. We will notify you when this is complete.”
I’ve never seen that when leaving a review on Amazon before. Any idea why it’s not being sent right through?
P.S. I’m doing a post today on the initial reviews the films getting. Do you mind if I quote you?
Just saw your comment about Amazon’s “processing” message. No, I don’t know why they did that; other reviews from last night have already shown up.
Wow! Good job!
Thank you! If you haven’t already, would you be willing to review it at Amazon? It can directly impact the film’s exposure there.
I will do my best😊
I will watch it on Prime. So glad it’s on.

Wow! I’ll watch it today!
Great, Rafaelle!
Shared on Facebook! The trailer is powerful and I can’t wait to watch the movie.
Thanks and blessings, Cindy!
Mitch, I enjoyed the trailer. Have you a date when it will be available on Amazon Prime in the UK?
Good question. I’ll check with our distributor!
I just finished watching via Amazon. This is a beautiful movie! Thank you so much for expressing the amazing love of God in such an awesome and remarkable way.
So glad you were touched by it, Cindy. Hope you were able to leave a review (it has a big impact on its priority at Amazon.)
Again congrats! I watched it on Amazon Prime. And as promised the movie review is on my site. I am not a movie reviewer for the NY Times or Chicago Post, but would appreciate you stopping by to give your opinion. I must confess—the film was amazing. Again, congrats to a job well done! Blessings and Peace.
Thank you so much, C.F.! At the risk of sounding greedy, I hope you were able to leave a brief review at Amazon, as well (our distributor says it has a big impact on the priority its given at Amazon).
No, I didn’t but I will. If it will help
Thank you!
Reviewed on Amazon. Please pray for my husband to be healed, he is back in the hospital tonight.
Oh, no! Praying.
Thanks for praying. He is home and doing much better.
Glad to hear that!

Hey folks, may I encourage you to check out my friend Mitch Teemley and give some serious thought about watching his movie this week?
Mitch is a Christian blogger, but he’s also a movie guy – like as in making them, not just watching (like the rest of us). I’m going to watch it this week with my wife, then I’m going to share my honest thoughts about it.
Let’s all watch it and give God the glory for what he’s doing through our brother in Christ, Mitch!
God bless you, my friend! Maybe He will even throw in an Oscar 🙂
Thank you, Anthony. I’m honored!
Mitch you done the world a huge favour by making such a film. For all people. I’m dealing with the exact same scenario right now. Death is so painful but won’t bring our loved ones back. I’m thanking you in a very personal level.
Thank you, Dr. Zebaish.

Just watched the movie with my husband, and we loved it! This movie has great acting and a dramatic story that kept our attention throughout. We enjoyed the music too! You are a very talented man, Mitch! And God will use this movie to help people and teach about forgiveness. I reviewed it on Amazon (5 star) and I will share about it on social media. I hope tons of people watch it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Janet! If you get a chance, please jump over to IMDb and rate it there, as well. We were attacked by internet trolls who gave it the lowest rating possible, even though they haven’t seen it, and are counting on people who have to correct the ranking. Blessings.
I know people will lecture me for saying this but there are some things that I wont forgive: just my
opinion but some people don’t deserve forgiveness: I will share the trailer and watch the movie. thankyou — I decide that I was an atheist in my sixties but still have an open mind
Thank you for your honest thoughts, Clair. I understand (I used to be an atheist myself). And thank you for your willingness to share the trailer and watch the film, anyway!
Jesus’ challenge to love our enemies has never been embraced by most people (even those in the church). And indeed the core doctrine of grace, unmerited favor toward those who do not deserve it–which is everyone on the planet–is the most revolutionary idea ever put forth. I believe it can, and one day will, heal our broken world, but not without the radical sacrifice and transformation of many lives. Peace. ~Mitch

I totally enjoyed “Healing River”. It is a powerful, intense movie. The acting was superb. The meaning was deep. The music was amazing. What was the name of the last song? I would really like To download if it is available. Great job!
I’m so glad you were move by the film, Teri! The last song is entitled “Impossible Love.” It’s not available online yet, but we’ll be uploading the songs from the movie score to online sources ASAP. I’ll keep my readers posted.
Also, may I encourage you to leave a brief review at Amazon? You could simply copy and paste the words you wrote here, if you like. (The more reviews a movie receives, the more they recommend it). You can also rate it on IMDb (link below). We’re working to counter fake ratings left by internet trolls (who hadn’t actually seen the movie). Thanks and blessings! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5848326/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2
