“Have you ever watched something you created take on a life of its own?”
~The Wishing Map
Imagine writing a song that countless people consider “their song.” Or creating a medicine that eases the suffering of millions. On the other hand, “a lie can travel around the world while truth is putting its boots on.” Even the most “harmless” invention, exaggeration, or false report can ruin someone’s life. Because ideas, for good and for bad, go on, often outliving the one who created them.

That picture is an apt one of Tim Conway’s elephant story about the trainer and his elephant. It’s on utube with Carol Burnett on her show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qqE_WmagjY
Classic!
Love it! We tend to create things that take over, don’t we?
When we first speak, we do not think of the consequences to others from trying to make ourselves look good and the other person a villain. The proverbial elephant in the living room can lead to our demise.
Well said!!!
Thank you, AW.
Truth and wisdom all wrapped up in this short post! Excellent! 🙂
Aw, thanks, Dori.
I’ll be careful. Wish the whole world would.
Me too, David.
Amen
While we often feel “less than”, often what we say or do can become “more than” what we intended and, as you have said, become something that takes on a life of its own and can too often bring grief and destruction, or great blessing, depending on the way we use ideas and information. But more often than not, it brings grief. May we all think before we act and speak and do our best to give out only good, positive things that help and encourage others. May we not create elephants that bring destruction but may we invite angels into our circumstances with our words and actions.
Amen.
The enduring nature of ideas underscores the importance of thoughtful and ethical creation.🎉
