I took this photo of my wife and our recently-born first child when my wife was exhausted. And yet all I see is her bottomless, heart-melting love.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Note: If your relationship with your mother is complicated, or if her own issues caused her to fail, you’re not alone. But your heart still beat within her once. So, if you can, call.
yes, just call.

My husband took a picture of me, asleep in the recliner with our daughter when she was a newborn baby with severe GERD (which kept her up screaming at night). It is one of the sweetest pictures, and I especially enjoy it now that she is almost 14, very healthy, and sleeping quite well at night!

Great post Mitch…yes I hope that everyone who can will call their mom…because one day they will not be able to and will wish they could.

Beautifully written and such love in it. Mine’s gone but I still talk to her. My children would call without it being mother’s day. I’m so blessed. I’m sure your wife had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Wow. How did you know that not every mother-child relationship is a Hallmark card or movie? I fall in the “complicated” category, but have taken great strides in recent years towards letting it go. And it’s working. I am in a much better place now. In fact, I have plans to see her this weekend. And yes, your photo is absolutely beautiful. Thanks Mitch.

Beautifully captured picture and thoughts Mitch. “exhausted. And yet all I see is her bottomless, heart-melting love.” What a great thought to esteem the value of all our mothers. May we remember to cherish their presence in our life, especially when they are still there with us. I miss my mother so much.
