You’re Peculiar

Be weird. It keeps people wondering. God bless!

That’s some good writing. 🙂 If I remember correctly, old Pete was a blustering “weirdo” too, yet Jesus chose him to be the foundation “rock” upon which the Christian movement was built. I’ve read some translations of Matthew 16:18 that say, “You are [pebbles] but upon this [rock] I will build my [called-out ones]”

Great connection, Vernon. Love me some Peter!

Yeah, I wonder if anyone has ever written a good movie script about Peter. The character arc would be fantastic. Mitch probably knows.

I wrote a treatment some years back, but haven’t written the screenplay. A powerful story arc indeed.

Maybe we could collaborate, remotely. Yes, you know my background, but I’m still a friend to Christians. I view myself as that good Centurion who built the local people a synagogue.

Gotta relate my “coffee house” experience in the 60s: As a consequence of the fame of the “Hungry – I” and that of the iconic Beatnik, sitting on the floor beating his bongos in time with a new Ferlinghetti-like poem – we got our own coffeehouse out in the hinterlands of SoCal. It was filled with wanna-be Beatniks, all pounding on bongos at the same time. The racket was so unbearable I could hardly finish my espresso before fleeing.

My sister posted that meme to her facebook profile about a month ago. The artists amongst us often feel pushed to the outer rim. Perhaps that is because in some way we prefer it there in spite of the pain it causes.

And here I thought that Normal was in Oklahoma.

And I thought the only state with a Normal was the state of mind.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Love the irony. In a room full of “identically clad” hipsters who all smoke clove cigarettes and may well think of themselves as nonconformists, the “normal” guy is the weirdo nonconformist. Glad U could make the point in a gentle way that provoked applause rather than defensiveness.
