The Emerald Isle

I’ve always felt a connection to Ireland. The first time I heard Celtic music, I fell in love with the combined sounds of harps and guitars, pennywhistles, fiddles, bodhrán drums and bagpipes–it reached all the way down into my soul. After playing the leprechaun Og in our high school musical, that became my nickname. But it wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned my ancestry was, in fact, largely Irish, and that I was actually descended from a 16th century cheiftan named Og! So here’s to the beautiful emerald isle and, regardless of your heritage, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

It isn’t titled so I was wondering if the young man with the staff is Dylan Thomas?

  5. Beautiful images. I too fell in love with Ireland, after reading Maeve Binchy’s books long ago. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. 🍀

Love it. I have been intrigued by the welsh countryside. All the old stone fences and buildings, some in ruin. Narrow roads, right hand steering wheels and crashing waters over the incredible shores.
Have you listened to Steph MacLeod? I play along, time after time with their “Be thou my Vision” video. Easy to find on Utube and the song is in E.

I loved my visit to Ireland several years ago with my daughter. There was so much we didn’t get a chance to see and do that I can’t wait to go back. Lovely images.

You did your Irish heritage proud with this photo collection, Mitch. Loved the sheep staring straight at the camera. When we were in Ireland years ago, we were fascinated to see the dogs in ready-set-go position. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a cloud of sheep appeared, and the dogs went to work moving them along. Amazing to watch.
