Yesterday I Was Clever

Thought for the Week

  4. So much wisdom in that line. Reminds me of this one from Matthew: “Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?” In my day job I work with a lot of change projects and attitude about change is so important, a driving factor in determining success.

  5. One of the things that hinders our progress in business, in personal relationships, or in leadership, is that we look outside ourselves for solutions. We learn negotiating tactics instead of how to improve our communication skills–making sure we are heard instead of listening. We develop the business instead of the owner. We rely on a program or a set of laws instead of our own moral and humanitarian obligations to the people we lead. God is INSIDE us, his law is written on our hearts. If you don’t like things they way they are, change yourself first.

  9. Good stuff Mitch: Something I may have sent to you? Earnest Hemmingway spoke to me: ” Don’t try to be original, it won’t be any good. Just write about who you are and you will be original” Norm

  10. I think that’s the problem with today’s world. On one hand, there are things which need to change for the good of the many, but on the other hand, the attitude of the many needs to change, too.

That is so true. If you value what you have no matter what you lose, you may eventually gain a lot, and if you don’t, you’ll be satisfied. If you compare yourself to others, you will surely see the thing you don’t have.
