Don’t Look for Christmas

Don't Look for Christmas (mitchteemley.com)The percentage of people, who celebrate Christmas only on December the 25th is probably pretty small. Why? Well, apart from watching Hallmark Christmas movies starting in June, it’s because they celebrate it when they can.

My wife and I flew to California at the start of December to celebrate Christmas with our youngest daughter and our son-in-law, as well as extended family members, including those of the fur persuasion (“fursuasion”?). But SoCal didn’t feel terribly Chrismasy yet. So we brought it with us.

And today, Christmas Eve, we’re celebrating Christmas with our oldest child and proto-son-in-law because his family has little ones who simply must open their presents on actual Christmas morning — and who are we to deny them being there for that? So, for us, today is Christmas Part Deux.

And tomorrow, Christmas morning? Trudy and will celebrate Christmas Part Trois, even though there will only be deus of us (just roll with it). So why stop there? Why not bring Christmas with us everywhere we go from now on? Let’s take a cue from Dickens’s reformed Mr. Scrooge. Let’s “honor Christmas in our hearts and try to keep it…

All the year.”

  4. Amen. Hope your flight schedules are operative. Seems the Continental Divide and a high pressure area is saving CA from the Arctic storm.

  15. I love this! Our Christmas is very different this year because our grandson was born on Wednesday in Texas and we all will hopefully go down there soon and have Christmas then and most of our gifts for everyone were already shipped there and so we’re just chilling and waiting and I cooked way too much food for just us….and I am the most relaxed I have been during Christmas since I was a kid. 🙂 Merry Christmas, Mitch!
