Thought for the Week
“Making the decision to have a child–it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.” ~Elizabeth Stone
“I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.” ~Vincent van Gogh
“You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” ~Psalm 139:13
“Diaper backward spells repaid.” ~Marshall McLuhan
“If you were to open up a baby’s head–and I am not for a moment suggesting that you should–you would find nothing but an enormous drool gland.” ~Dave Barry
“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one.” ~Leo J. Burke
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” ~Matthew 18:10
“Every child begins the world again.”
~Henry David Thoreau
I sleep like a baby. Wake up and pee, wake up and pee, wake up and pee. Then I’m hungry and I don’t want to go down to the kitchen and turn on the light and find something I don’t have to cook or dirty a dish and a spoon, so I cry into my pillow.

All of these are very good – I’m blown away by diaper spelled backwards (especially because I’m just at the end of that phase with my kids).
But I love that Psalm – one of my absolutely favorites. Thank you, Mitch!

Babies are cute, just as kittens are cute. Kittens grow up to be cats. Babies grow up to become adults. No sure where this analogy is going but I thought I had a brilliant point started.

I remember singing to Dan as a baby, still in a bassinet. I can carry a tune, but that’s all. But as I sang, his face came alive to something above him and his little arms tried to catch whatever it was. Tears welled up. It never happened again. Your winsome post reminded me of something from nearly 48 years ago (he turns 48 next week).

But always your baby, right, Joy? Think how God must feel.

People who say they sleep like a baby, usually don’t have one is a truly magical quote. I can agree that babies are amazing in a really exhausting way 🙂

I thought this post was possibly leading up to you announcing a grandchild on the way. I hesitated about sharing my thought because I don’t intend to start a rumor. I loved the quotes, Mitch.

Nope, no grandkids so far. Stay tuned.

Ah, grandkids! When you have a baby, you think you can’t love anything more in the entire world. Then you have grandbabies and that theory is blown right out of the water. They are, after all, your baby’s babies – a deliriously mind-blowing concept. 🤱🏼

I hadn’t quite thought of it that way.

Elizabeth Stone said it best: I’ve got an 8 year old and a 12 year old currently, and it is so nerve-wracking, them just out in the world at school, etc., some days! I know my family has some serious angels lol

I could make myself comfortable in front of a baby in a cradle, just as if I were in front of a fireplace, and just enjoy staring at the gift from Heaven. Thanks for the warm thoughts, Mitch.

Beautiful quotes, Mitch. Each one is so meaningful.
I love, “Making the decision to have a child–it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.” ~Elizabeth Stone
So true! My two are caring, responsible, and empathetic adults and yet, my heart has no intention of returning to its rib cage!
Best wishes.
