Eight years ago today I posted my first blog. It had no title and no picture, just the words, “Testing, testing…hello, is this thing on?” I thought it was funny. So did one other person (maybe?) who reblogged it with the heading, “Wow!” That was it. No one else ever saw it. Discouraged, I deleted it and started over again the next day, including the first picture below and introducing myself with the tongue-in-cheekish title, “Don’t Read This, You’ll Only Encourage Him.” Suddenly, eight years passed, and here I still am. Since I do photoblogs on Fridays, I’ve collected a chronological gallery of images from my posts over the last eight years. And I’m so glad I have more than one person (maybe?) to celebrate with me!

Congratulations 8 years is quite an accomplishment! I write only one blog a week and it takes me half a day, while you send us insightful, beautiful and witty prose and photos in a steady stream each week. We are richer for your talent and efforts! Yes — this thing is DEFINITELY on!

Aw, bless you, dear Mary. Bill was one of my earliest blogging friends, as well as my first Featured Blogger. Your role in his life was, of course, singularly unique, but, oh, how I wish we could all have that glimpse. Although, in a sense, I think Bill gave us a glimpse with the posts he wrote here on earth.

What a fun retrospect, Mitch. 8 is the only positive Fibonacci number, aside from 1, that is a perfect cube. Sounds like an auspicious anniversary!
