Once upon a time there was bold young princess, and a dashing young prince. They met, and the rest is, well…the story of our daughter Beth and new son-in-law Sergio. This is a pretty Facebook-y photoblog, but many of you have become real friends, and have asked for pictures of their recent wedding — which my wife oversaw and I officiated. We noticed the sparks the moment they met. Not surprising, since they’re both avid fantasy gamers, anime lovers, and performers. Beth is also an illustrator and clothing designer. And Sergio is a writer, game reviewer, and online host. So it seemed only natural to present their wedding here with the fairytale tone it had.

what a lovely wedding! I remember when the wedding cake had at least one tier…and a bride and groom on top and that was it…my Mother said hers cost $41 and change and that included topper. Now they have cake testings and all sorts of stuff. Marriage was simpler then 😉 Wishing all the best to the young couple! ❤

Hope everything in the marriage works out well. Sadly heard of a different, but surprisingly similar story….but won’t bore you with details. Just make sure they are good to each other and have a long happy marriage 🙂

Did I hear you say one tier? That’s almost an abomination now😂. I can’t even imagine it

LOL….I think mine had a bottom level and one more level with the little bride and groom thing perched on top. I think it was considered sensible for the day (1980’s) 😀

Beautiful in all respects. Is that a Totoro wedding cake? Epic if it is 😃

No, it’s Snorlax, a Pokemon character.

I agree! It’s in the anime style that the legendary Hayao Miyazaki (creator of Totoro) had a great deal of influence on.

How much fun is this!! It’s the kind of day that makes you say “wish I was there!” Was that the wedding cake or the groom’s cake? In certain areas, having a groom’s cake is a traditional part of the reception. I learned that when our first son got married. Congrats to Beth and Sergio! May they always be this happy! 🥂 🎊 ❣️

That was the wedding cake (I’ve never heard of a groom’s cake). Thanks, Nancy!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Neither had I. Apparently it’s a ‘thing’ down south where my daughter-in-law is from. The cake is supposed to be something of significance to the groom (obviously). My son’s cake was R2D2; no questions were necessary. 🪐

Thanks for sharing the photos. Your heart must be filled to overflowing. I absolutely love it when the personalities and stories of the couple are woven throughout a wedding ceremony. It looks like this wedding was spot-on in that department – everything from Beth’s dress to the cake. Congratulations to Beth and Sergio!

Great images! Praises and prayers for their future together. And sparks. I certainly know about sparks – it was that way when I first met the woman who later became my wife and Sister-in-Christ. And we are still sparkly 25 years on.

So fun looking at these wedding photos. Looks like Beth got your artistic side and Trudy’s beauty side. I love when a wedding reflects the personalities of the bride & groom.

True, but one caveat, Mary: Trudy was an art major in college, and is an excellent illustrator, so Beth definitely tapped that source too!

oh wow! I didn’t know that. She got the artistic genes from both sides then. She was destined to be an artist. Actually, she does look a little like the both of you, too.

We really like your story and would like to include an excerpt in our summer issue of Undead Weddings. Please let us know if it is okay to feature you.

Hi, FB. I’m flattered, but would need to know a bit more (and to check with my daughter and son-in-law). I’m not clear how the recent wedding of two real life people would be used on a site about vampires.

Excellent question. What we do is write an article about a real world subject as it relates to our characters. Then we feature quotes from other bloggers in the video about the subject. Our last wedding issue was in June 2020 if you’d like to see how your quote will be used. We don’t use any of your pictures. Just something that stood out about your story.

I believe the quote we wanted to highlight was “we noticed the sparks…”. Yes, it was their wedding so we knew you’d have to run it by them. It’s really touching when the father of the bride notices the sparks and that’s what we loved the most in your post. No worries if you decide against it 😊
