On Bad Advice

Bad AdviceNote: It’s possible Arnold Schwartzeneggar never actually said this. ;>)

Thought for the Week

Wisdom consists not so much in following good advice, as in not following bad advice. Ergo, the withholding of bad advice is one of the simplest and purest acts of kindness there is.

“Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips!” ~Psalm 141:3

“In this world, there are only a few things more available than gasoline: coffee, soda and beer. Oh, and bad advice.” ~Foster Kin

“Half of seeming clever is keeping your mouth shut at the right times.” ~Patrick Rothfuss

“Never miss a good chance to shut up.”
~Will Rogers

“Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning when they hold their tongues.” ~Proverbs 17:28

“‘Trust me. You can dance.’- VODKA” ~Darynda Jones

“I don’t think…” Then you shouldn’t talk, said the Hatter.” ~Lewis Carroll

“Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.” ~George Eliot

“Either be silent, or let thy words be worth more than silence.”
~Pythagoras

When the soul lies down in the grass
the world is too full to talk about.”
~Rumi

One has to sort out what is bad advice and what is good advice. Given poor input, one gets poor output. Kind of the old saying…GIGO…Garbage in, Garbage out 😉

Love especially Will Rogers. I still treasure the saying of a friend who told me, “If God doesn’t have anything to say then I don’t either!”

Whenever some kid asks me for advice on surviving Basic Training my answer is, “Look the Drill SGT right in the eyes and ask if they need a hug. They’ll respect you for it.” Of course, I always follow up with, “I’m just kidding. Don’t do that. Keep your head down, your mouth shut, and do what you’re told, when you’re told, how you’re told. The quickest way out of Basic is to graduate.”

💎 What about THINK!!! for YOURSELF!!! EveryOne; ask YOURSELF!!! why YOU!!! ARE So Easily Influenced; it’s NOT!!! about Being Silent because that is where MisConceptions and MisCommunication Happen, an Opinion is just that, an Opinion…but We Get Pissed Off, hence Conflict, FIGHTS!!! Arguments!!!and WAR!!! yet “ALL is Fair in Love and WAR!!!” ~ Anon; basically, if YOU!!! Keep YOUR!!! Trap SHUT!!! then a Major, Nuclear, Emotional Explosion from Repression and Suppression is Inevitable, is it NOT!!! So 🤔 ?

    Mitch,

Yes, Lord guards our mouths. I have many moments without the right words. Two ears on mouth, right? More listening then speaking.

    Merry Christmas,
