Everyday Messages From God

Guest Blog by David’s Daily Dose

David of David’s Daily Dose is simply one of the most real, down-to-earth bloggers I’ve come across. He describes himself like this: “I’m just a regular guy who was tempted to lose all hope but did not. It was God who made the difference.” Can you relate? Me too.

Have there been moments in your life when God sent you a personal message? This happened to me the other day:

I’ve taken on new leadership responsibilities at work that feel like a stretch. I’m a helper/encourager type, a project coordinator. Second in command is my preferred role. And yet I’m walking the halls of an elementary school this summer as a lead teacher (administrator). But back to the other day…

I stood at the back door of the school, staring at the playground and mulling over a precarious personnel issue. The problem in question was unlikely to be resolved peacefully without direct intervention. But what was the next step?

The other lead teacher and I finally agreed that one of us should talk further with the three teachers at the center of the dispute. As she walked out to the playground to do this I stood there and thought something like, “Are you SURE I’m the guy for this job, God?”

Turning around to head back down the hall, I glanced up the stairs. Stuck to a step, about half way up, was a red piece of construction paper. “That’s odd,” I thought. “We’re not using the second floor for summer school. That paper must have been there since regular school ended three weeks ago.”

Always a Curious George, I trudged up the stairs to retrieve the paper. I expected it to be a long forgotten student art project, but it was a message instead. A message from God.

“You can do it. Great job! Just keep…”

Just keep what, Lord? I tried every “How to find a hidden message” trick in the book, but there’s nothing legible after the word keep.

What does it mean?!

Eventually a favorite memory verse came to mind–one that brought me through many an anxious night:

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” ~Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

And that was my message from God. Have you heard from God like that? If so, and if you’d like, please share about a time when you’ve heard personally from the Creator of the Universe. I’d love to hear your story…

Because stories matter.

  1. Certainly not that tactilely (yes, a real word–I looked it up), but prayers journaled to be ready for open doors. They have been awesome, and I was already primed to say yes! And they DO have to do with stories. Stories spreading across the nation via Our American Stories. lump in throat

  4. As I journal through Scripture, sometimes God’s Voice is so clear it is a bit overwhelming. And then It always seems to be summed up in believing in what I have heard and keeping my eyes focused on Him. Your story is awesome and so affirming. Thank you.

The smile on my face when I read Gods direct message to you. Amazing how God knows what’s to come before we ourselves arrive to that exact moment. There have certainly been times in my life where God spoke directly it’s what got me through the darkness. Thank you once again for sharing this experience with us.

  9. I’ve had a few similar experiences–too much for coincidence. Just “thank you God” moments. Great post.

Love it! “God Moments!” are awesome, how He shows up in the most mysterious ways. One that comes to my mind is when I was distraught over something. Very worried. I pulled into the Target Parking lot and didn’t even want to go shopping. The only reason I decided to run into the store was so that I would stop crying and be forced to get myself together. So I walk in, turn down the aisle and a lady is walking towards me with a big smile. Her t-shirt reads, “Don’t worry. I got this!” God
My heart was full and I felt peace!

I love it! All we have to do is keep our eyes, ears, and heart open and God tends to show up at exactly the right time.
Thanks for introducing us to Dan.

  13. I was blessed by this post. I’m nlike that as well in the sense I prefer being second in command or working behind the scenes.

Well recently I wanted to post a message to some people at work, but the internet was acting up. God told me I should not send th messages. When I got to work the following day I learnt about something that if I had sent the messages could have made the situation worse.

  14. Yes, There have been several moments when God has sent me a personal message. He’s been here all along with me, it just took some challenges and wisdom from my children to hear Him. Thanks for sharing my friend.
