My Featured Blogger this week is Martina Kia of Kia’s Notions. I know virtually nothing about Kia, except that she may be Ugandan and that I like her. I like her openness and vulnerability. I like her writing, which ranges from essays to advice, to poems like the one below. And most of all, I like her heart. I’m guessing you will too!
Sometimes you confuse me too
Sometimes there’s a fiery glint in your eyes
Makes you look frightening
Like you could be dangerous with a sword
I feel like I should run
To the ends of the earth
And never look back.
Sometimes your eyes shine so brightly
They almost sparkle
In times like this you are very endearing
And my heart pushes against its seams
Makes me want to bake a cake
And write our love song on it.
Sometimes your eyes are grey
Dullened like clouds for rain
Rain that never ends
And I want to cry with you
To hold you and make you believe
The sun will come out again.
Powerful poem that stirs the heart. Brings many emotions .

Whew child! Those same eyes survey the wastelands and see a river running through it. Beautiful piece!

Such a beautiful poem. It is very particular, but speaks to something very universal at the same time. Thank you for introducing us to this gifted writer.
