It’s always been a question when I mow the lawns: are dandelions weeds or wish generators? Sometimes I think I should stop mowing the lawn and just have a field of dandelions.

That’s not a bad idea, Andrew! I’ll have to suggest it to my husband.

So what did you decide upon?

I like dandelions and I mow round them!

Which, in many yards in my neighborhood, would simply mean not mowing.

I so love that you used the word “festooned “. Yet another word that’s used nearly enough!

I agree, Laura, which is why I festoon sentences with the word festoon as often as possible. May your weekend be festooned with festoonful festooning!

Dandelions are important food sources for bees…

Funny, loved it! Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I guess one person’s weeds are another’s wishes. And I never thought to wish for more…

I’m not really flower person. Here in Nigeria, I don’t think a lot of us are though🤔…dandellions, you’ve made me read up about them😁

That’s a great way to look at it! And another: decide they are actually flowers, and maybe we won’t mind them so much?

Oh, I like the flowers, Ann. But then the petals fall off and you’re left with a yard full of ugly bare stalks. And meanwhile, the plants are spreading out, choking off and replacing the grass with more of themselves.

Yeah, that’s why I’ve never been able to think of them as flowers either!

Dandelions are 😍

Any klutz can grow dandelions. Even me! (Ubiquity and uniformity gave a beautiful flower a bad rep.) I do pull weeds; I do not pull dandelions. On the contrary, I have posted prose and poetry in their praise. They may be more appreciative of the fact that I postpone the first mowing in spring to give the dandelions and wild violets in my lawn a chance to set seed.
