“The death of a dream is often a subtle form of idolatry. We lose faith in the God who gave us the big dream and settle for a small dream that we can accomplish without his help.” ~Mark Batterson

Dream Deferred
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Good scripture to pair with the quote. There is some meaty wisdom in the Mark Batterson quote, it’s an excellent one to ponder on awhile.

“. . . a small dream we can accomplish ourself.” What a powerful phrase! God, help us to realize we really cannot – not at all – save ourselves.

I never looked at it like that before, but I think you’re right. Thank you!

I donβt read this entry as trusting the lord with your life. Rather trust yourself to make your own dreams come true.

For those who trust the Lord with their lives, these are one and the same. God’s dream is my dream.

I’m not sure I understand your question, Rudy. But if you turn to the book of Jeremiah in your Bible, then to Chapter 17, and then read verses 7, 8 and 9, you’ll be reading Jeremiah 17:7-9 (no zeros are needed because it’s not math). Jeremiah 42 only has 22 verses, so there’s no 32, 33, or 34.

Mitch,
Dreams canβt be easily killed or at all when we give them to the Lord. Plus isnβt it true only the Lord makes them come true.
Thanks,
Gary
