My Featured Blogger this week is George Raymond of the exceedingly quirky blog site Trefology. At least I think it is. That’s him in the picture below. At least I think it is. That’s because it’s exceedingly difficult–no make that outright futile–to get a straightforward answer out of this fine-feathered fellow.
On the other hand, it’s extremely easy to get a smile, a chuckle, and even a guffaw out of his humorous verses. Could this be Ogden Nash’s long-lost nephew? We’ll never know.
So that will have to
Do, that is, do
No, make that suffice
Which is just as nice
I used to know a girl named, Sincerely.
When she moved away,
I tried to write her a letter to
express all the things in my heart.
It was a very short letter.
It began,
Dear Sincerely,
George.
P.S. Once again, I have run out of room.
ii.
Then, at the bottom of the letter,
I added a bunch of X’s and O’s.
Telling her,
this is what Tic Tac Toe looks like
untethered by
the number sign.
If lost in the woods,
leave a trail of bread crumbs
for the birds to eat. It couldn’t hurt, and
besides, it might help, later, to
have some friends on the inside.
The text made me smile but that top image gave me an LSD flashback (and not the good kind 🙂 )

THIS. IS. AWESOME! It’s just the sort of thing a group of I and other English majors would have dissected and discussed ad nauseam between one class on Poe and another on Pope, when all we really needed to do was enjoy it. Which I truly did just now! 😉

George is a gem. (I can feel him cringing as I say that, but truth wins out.) Once upon a time we collaborated on a whimsical piece with baseless values. It’s admittedly-overlong, but we had a swell time cobbling it together and restraint went out the window. (As if it was ever IN the window..):

Needs a little more nutmeg, otherwise it’s perfect.

Is she related to Shirley U. Jest?

P.S. The leading lady in my current film “Notzilla,” Shirley Yujest, repeatedly corrects people on the proper pronunciation of her name (“YOO-jest”).

Yeah, it’s that kind of movie.
