The Real Me

Sir-Real-Knight

I prayed before sunrise this morning, confessing my failings, admitting my fears, seeking to better know my God. Later on, at the bathroom mirror, I was startled to see the face of an adult staring back at me. Why? Because I’d suddenly realized that the real me was not the adult I saw in the mirror, but the child who stood before his Creator this morning.

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

~Matthew 18:3

It seems to me, we can never be more than Children before God, and we are equal in this. God loves his children…all of them. In Christ, we become God’s children. Thanks, Mitch. Beautiful exaltation of the Spirit that would bring light to us all.’

    Peace

Amen! Growing up, I was raised by a mother who was mentally ill. But she was also very cruel and controlling. For the past year, I’ve been trying to see myself as God’s child and not Judy’s child. Talk about parading shifts! And I’m sure that at 54, I have less than half my life left to start living a life that glorifies God. Good thing he’s the God of ‘suddenlies’!

A paradigm shift that takes a lifetime, but it’s infinitely worth it.

Ahhh! Damn autocorrect! Yes…a paradigm shift. (It also drives me nuts when I tell someone to have a good day and they tell me to have a good week. Some things in the universe need “correction”. 🧐. (😬)

  9. What a strange thing it is for beings that are destined to live for eternity would think of themselves as mature so early in their journey.

Indeed very true and insightful! Thank you for the light! Everday, (humanly trying), I pray according to the pattern our Lord gave, after acknowledging Him as the source of my life (which is in reality eternal and spiritual), I approach Him with my fallenness, folly, failure and feebleness and appropriate His forgiveness and grace which are also extended to all, and realise that He has enabled me to live not only with the Holy God, but also with my fellow sinners (Matt 6:12).
