Politics

Given the current rather bizarre state of politics in my country (“current” meaning any day of any year), it seems like a good time for this:

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.” ~Groucho Marx

“He knows nothing, and he thinks he knows everything. That points clearly to a political career.” ~George Bernard Shaw

“You have to remember one thing about the will of the people: it wasn’t that long ago that we were swept away by the Macarena.” ~Jon Stewart

“How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?” ~Charles de Gaulle

“To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.” ~Douglas Adams

  3. I really like this. Yesterday, as I watched snippets of Michael Cohen’s testimony, I thought that I have been watching Political Theater the last few months. First, the Kavanaugh hearing, then the Virginia Governor, Lt. Governor and AG, now this. It seems to me that none of this is about the truth. It is about getting your name out there and your agenda. God help us all!

I seem to recall an episode of Babylon 5, in which a character sums it up perfectly. “Analyze a situation, find the solution that makes the least amount of sense, and run with it.” Never has that scene been more appropriate. 😂
