Advent

presentation1

The season of Advent has begun. The word advent means “to arrive” in a notable or surprising way (Oxford Dictionary). Hence, it serves as the root of our word “adventure,” which implies daring, the unknown. In short: An experience that can change a person forever. If they let it.

“He is not safe, but he is good.” ~C. S. Lewis

I attended an “Advent Day of Reflection” yesterday — actually, it was part of my new job, I did the sound and recording. It was a lovely way to start the season and put me in a different frame of mind. I threw away the to-do list I had and carved out more daily prayer time and reading instead.
I, too, love the CS Lewis quote.

  11. Mitch, this is a lesson that many believers miss, in growing in understanding of Christian Faith. When we leave the realm of a Child and through Adolescence, many new and more acceptable premises bring on that which we find difficult to share. Advent is one of the Great times for learning and growing. I find that pondering the words of C. S. Lewis, ensure growth and understanding. Great post.
