Courage Demands Gratitude

Dear Americans, while we enjoy our Memorial Day, may we not fail to remember those whose sacrifices paid for it. Those soldiers, firefighters, police officers and others whose sacrifices have secured the lives and freedoms of Americans and non-Americans alike.

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.”

~Billy Graham

Coming from a family that served in the military and foreign services, and marrying into a family who served in the military and intelligence services, I (we) appreciate this positive message!

  6. Great post, goes right to the point. As a retired military spouse and the mother of a volunteer fireman, I know well the knowledge that my husband flew, and my son responds, without giving a second thought to their safety if someone else’s life is on the line. Our country is safer and protected 24/7 by people who do the same each and every day and today we specifically remember those who died doing it. May God bless their families.

In personal relationships or world affairs, it is people of integrity and courage who lead most profoundly by their example. Among the stories of our valiant, fallen heroes we can find many such role models. God help ALL of us to aspire to such self-sacrifice. As the old prayer-hymn said: “Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, that we fail not man or Thee” (from “God of Grace and God of Glory”).

Thank you Mitch for your post. Oh that we would teach our children their history and the cost of peace. May God continue to bless our Nation and those who sacrificed their lives to serve and die for freedom’s call.
