Castles in the Air

presentation1Which type are you?

P.S. That’s a photo (not a painting) of a real hot air balloon created by a renowned European craftsmanHe dreamed it and built it!

“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build…and live as only you can.”  ~Neil Gaiman

  1. Can you imagine what everyone said when he first shared this dream? Beyond this person’s creativity, work-ethic and persistence I admire his bravery for pressing forward under the hail of assumed negative adice from friends and family: “What a stupid idea.” “Whose gonna put up the money?” “What’s it gonna prove?” “Have you taken your psych meds?” 😉 VMK

  2. It is certainly beautiful…..what was the purpose for building it? Just to do it?

The creator runs a company that builds balloons and dirigibles. I think this was probably both a personal passion and promotional tool for him. It’s not a castle, actually, it’s a church somewhere in the Czech Republic.

  3. This is SO awesome Mitch… My brother-in-law is staying with us right now, so I shared your picture and quote with him as well. He has made his living as a graphic artist and is now building beautiful banjos in his retirement. So you blessed us both! Your post encourages me to walk by faith through my own fears (as a writer) and to just be me, the only me God created. Anyway, thank you…with all my heart! 👍🏻😊

That castle does NOT look air-worthy. The end with the double towers looks too long and too tall, which should make the balloon unbalanced. But it isn’t. Great visual lesson of persistence and patience toward a goal. Love the Neil Gaiman quote as well. Thank you, Mitch, for a great piece of inspiration!

  5. Great words of inspiration for the times when I don’t feel very necessary or special and have given up on my dream. Thanks

I’ve heard about it, Claremary. It’s the biggest balloon gathering anywhere, isn’t it?

      • Yes, we were there in 2005 in Albuquerque. They let you be part of the team in getting the balloons off the ground and following to help when the land. The balloons are amazing. I remember a small castle, but nothing like the one in your article. Truly a dream. We hope to return in the future. (I think there may be an even larger one in South America?)

If that was a bouncy castle I’d be way more impressed.
