Stumbling block or humbling block?

The choice is yours.

One hardens you and makes your prouder.

The other softens you and makes you wiser.

⇔ ⇔ ⇔

“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled,

and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

~Matthew 23:12

  1. But my thoughts are a jumble, because I feel humble when I stumble. Then I mumble as I fumble, but at least I didn’t tumble. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

This makes me think of a heart that hardens against God, or softens toward God…like butter and clay…the sun (God’s spirit/will/love in this example) will melt butter (a heart that is open to God) and harden clay (a heart that is closed off to God and his spirit). The force is the same (the sun, or God’s spirit), the difference is in the receiver. Love your analogy, thank you for a perfect illustration! ~ Sheila
