I’m Creative!–No, Really

index3

Author Erika Kind has good feelings about me.  Please don’t blame her for this lapse in judgment–she and I only recently started following one another’s blogs and she doesn’t know the real me yet.  In fact, she thinks so well of me that she nominated me for The Creative Blogger Award!

I’m honored!  Not just because it’s nice to know someone/anyone thinks well of me, but because, in this case, I’ve been labelled “creative” by a vivacious young Austrian author/singer (please refrain from launching into “The hills are alive…”) who is herself a bundle of creative, positive energy.  Check out her blog site!

I am honor-bound by Creative Blogger Award Rules to:

  • Thank and post the link of the blog that nominated you  — Done, gladly, with bells on!  (Did that sound gay?  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
  • Share 5 Facts About Yourself to your readers — See below
  • Nominate other blogs and notify nominees — See below
  • Tell the nominees these rules — See, um, these Rules — right here — no, stop, you’ve gone too far to the–oh, never mind!

Five (Random) Facts About YourMyself

Chicken Crossing the RoadDespite an obsession with big meaning-of-life topics, I lace nearly everything I write with humor.  I could say this is because it puts people off their guard and helps them to be more receptive, because it does–to paraphrase another Julie Andrews song: “Just a spoonful of humor helps the medicine go down…” But, really, it’s just a thing I do.

music_017I have a secret love (other than writing or filmmaking): Music.  Have been writing and playing since my teenage band days, and once won a national talent search; it was the American Idol of the I’ll-Never-Tell-You-What decade.  My current outlet is creating music for my films.

Open BookMy wife and I read aloud together and have done so since we first started dating. We’re opposites in many ways, but one area in which we are near doppelgangers is our bone-deep love of stories!

Incredible-Eye-Macros-caterpillar1-490x367.img_assist_customI hate killing things.  Not just, like, you know, my neighbors (haven’t killed one in years), but anything–spiders, centipedes, moths–and always carry them (alive) outside whenever possible.  I once ran over a rabbit and wept for an hour.

ross-on-the-dentist-chair-pic-neville-williams-228129015I have a dentist appointment in one hour and am hurrying to come up with one final thing.  It’s the first time I’ve seen a dentist in–well, OK, I’ve spotted a few in public, but it’s the first time I’ve seen a dentist on purpose–since Hoover was president.

And My Nominees Are…

Some of my newer discoveries–check them out!

Hahaha…. Mitch, I knew you would deserve this award!!! I like your humor about you claiming you weren’t creative!!! This post is so funny. Also thank you for the amazing introduction of my person. I will love you forever for the “young” Austrian…! Your facts are so good. I hope the dentist appointment goes well. Btw. congrats that you never needed to see one by today!!! 😃

  3. That was great 🙂 I’ll send my condolences re: your dentist appointment already. If you haven’t been in that long, chances are there will be wailing and nashing (is it knashing?) of teeth..

Gnashing, actually. Just got back and, nope, no wailing or gnashing. I’m due for a cleaning and a loose filling repair, then I should be good to go for another 20 years or so.

      • No F A I R ! ! ! I’m so…er… um. . . happy for you.

Gnashing! of course. Had I been the diligent sort, I would have known/found that out. (heavy sigh…) I’m just one of the little lazy people…

        Congratulations on your award. 🙂

  8. This was a very enjoyable post, Mitch. I never doubted for a minute (maybe a second or two, but that’s it) that you’d get that nomination. In all seriousness though, congratulations Mitch! ;O)

What an absolute sweatheart you are!! And what a total honor to be nominated, Mitch. I can’t thank you enough…seriously. I am totally humbled by your nomination, but…..unfortunately, I don’t participate in the “blogger award thing – a ma- bobs”….not very techno-savy and really need to figure out how to post “no awards, please” on my blog….Been blessed (sincerely BLESSED) with 3 others that have actually nominated me, as well, and I am truly HUMBLED by all 4 of your nominations because I find all of you highly talented writers. So….THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, but I’m afraid I don’t participate in these things….I hope this doesn’t come across as ungrateful, because I AM HIGHLY GRATEFUL!!! And VERY HUMBLED, just don’t have a lot of time to figure out some of this “blogging stuff”……Thx, Mitch!!! ❤ 🙂

First – Congratulations! I have enjoyed the early chapters and they are very creative and very touching. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had a place to hide in when the world become unfair.

Second, thank you and what a complete surprise. Really… a big surprise as I have not posted in a while. I am working on getting my response together

    Thanks

  16. That’s funny! My husband and I read books out loud together too! It’s a great way to relax in the evening before going to sleep. I thought maybe we were the nerdiest people alive because we do this, but we love doing it together. Right now we are reading “All Creatures Great and Small” by James Herriot. Each chapter is a story in itself. It is very funny! I recommend it as a great book to read out loud!
