    Amen to that! Reminds me of the promise in Psalm 37:5. “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” As we delight ourselves in God, we are transformed. No longer are we so interested in selfish desires; our priorities change. What God wants becomes what we want. So I guess my prayer becomes, “Bend my will, Lord, to what you desire.” Thanks for the thought-provoking quote, Mitch.

    Some say that the phrase “will give you the desires of your heart” doesn’t mean “will give you what you want” but “will place the desires in your heart that He wants to be there.” But taking your words into account, Nancy–“As we delight ourselves in God, we are transformed”–either interpretation produces the same effect: God’s perfect will fulfilled!
